The "Failure Analysis" team is responsible for the root cause analysis of defective and newly produced components as well as components from test campaigns or real customer use ("field returns"). It acts as a direct interface between development and quality management and represents R&D in all relevant matters, including error management, error reporting and the tracking of error causes and corrective measures. Your area of responsibility will include the support and independent execution of instrumental tests, the recording of material characteristics and the maintenance in a material database, as well as the creation of work instructions for various analysis procedures.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • You support instrumental analyses by performing and assisting with FTIR measurements, operating the microscope, preparing and documenting samples, embedding samples, and conducting qualitative and quantitative investigations of defects, including documentation and evaluation of results
  • You support the development of analytical methods for ICP-OES and ion chromatography by familiarizing yourself with the operation and principles of both systems and independently carrying out routine analyses
  • You develop structured work instructions for the operation of ICP-OES and ion chromatography systems to ensure standardized and efficient laboratory processes
  • You maintain and update material characteristics in the existing material database by classifying and validating technical material data and supporting the further development of the database structure

 

Required competencies and experience:

  • You have completed several semesters of a degree program in Chemistry, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field
  • You have a strong interest in experimental laboratory work and instrumental analysis 
  • Your work in a precise, structured and disciplined manner and pay close attention to detail
  • You already gained initial laboratory experience, for example through university internships and you are familiar with analytical methods such as FTIR, microscopy or ion chromatography (IC)
  • You are eager to learn and willing to familiarize yourself with new analytical methods and technologies
  • You enjoy working in a team, are open-minded and act confidently in an interdisciplinary environment

  • You enjoy working in an international environment and communicate confidently in both German and English

Additional information

Proof of current enrollment in a degree program with outstanding exams is required. 

The position will be filled as a working student role with a maximum working time of 20 h per week for approx. 6 month.
