Head of Function & Model Development Fuel Cell On-Board Diagnostics (m/f/d)

The "Diagnostic Functions & Models" team develops advanced diagnostic algorithms and system models for fuel cell control units, ensuring robust fault detection and system transparency. A key focus lies on leveraging data science and AI-driven methods for efficient data analysis, pattern recognition, and continuous improvement of diagnostic capabilities.

Responsibilities:

As Team Lead, you are responsible for a team of around 10 highly motivated engineers and act as part of a global R&D organization, offering a dynamic and innovation-driven environment with strong growth opportunities.

Your team’s responsibilities include:
•    Derivation of system and application software requirements for heavy-duty truck applications in close collaboration with our customers Daimler Truck and Volvo Trucks.
•    Specification, development and documentation of diagnostic functions, models, monitors, statistical methods and service procedures, including their validation on test benches and vehicles in close alignment with internal stakeholders and custom-ers.
•    Coordination and steering of external engineering service providers.
•    Definition and implementation of remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance solutions.
•    End-to-end OBD coordination, including ensuring technically compliant control unit calibrations and functions at fuel cell system and vehicle level; evaluation of OBD rel-evance of signals, systems and components; preparation and review of homologa-tion documentation; and active contribution to the development of current and fu-ture OBD regulations and standards.
•    Software-in-the-loop (SiL) simulation and virtual calibration.
•    Development of scripts and dashboards for data-driven analysis; supporting cross-functional data analytics and driving the adoption of AI-based data mining ap-proaches leveraging large-scale fuel cell system operation data.
•    Definition and continuous improvement of software development processes, ensur-ing compliance with technical standards and Automotive SPICE (ASPICE).

 
Experience and Qualification:
•    Successfully completed university degree in engineering or natural sciences.
•    Several years of professional experience with strong expertise in automotive embed-ded software development, particularly in vehicle diagnostics.
•    Strong understanding of complex interactions in mechatronic and/or physico-chemical systems.
•    Proven leadership experience or clear demonstration of leadership potential, com-bined with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Open-minded, collaborative team player with a proactive mindset.
•    Basic understanding of technical compliance in product development.
•    Business fluent in German and English.
