Company: cellcentric GmbH & Co. KG
Everyone's talking about sustainable energy - we're getting it on track.
We are a company with probably the most experienced employees in our technology field in the world. As a joint venture of Daimler Truck AG and the Volvo Group AB, we are responsible for all activities along the entire value chain for fuel cell systems: from research and development to production and marketing for use in trucks and other applications outside vehicles. The goal is to establish cellcentric as a leading global manufacturer of fuel cells, contributing to climate-neutral and sustainable transportation.
Location: Esslingen-Pliensauvorstadt
The "Failure Analysis" team examines defective and newly produced components as well as components from test campaigns and real customer use. This is not just about operating analytical devices: We want to understand why something doesn't work, how we can prove the cause and how our analysis methods can be further developed. As a working student, you will therefore support us both in practical laboratory work and in the independent processing of technical and analytical questions. With us, you will not receive a ready-made work instruction for every task. Instead, we are looking for someone who is curious, can familiarize themselves with new topics independently, tackles problems in a structured way and develops solutions together with us.
Responsibilities:
- You will support us in the recommissioning of an ion chromatography (IC) system. You will familiarize yourself with the system independently, support systematic troubleshooting and, if necessary, coordinate with the device manufacturer
- After successful commissioning, you will carry out measurements and investigate the reproducibility and reliability of the measuring system, for example as part of a measurement system analysis (MSA)
- You will support sample preparation and method development for ICP-OES analyses, including digestion of fuel cell materials and the planning of reproducible test series
- You will support instrumental and microscopic analyses, in particular with FTIR, light microscopy and SEM/EDX, and gradually familiarize yourself with other analysis methods of our technical center
- You will support us in the further development of our material database. This includes recording and structuring material characteristics as well as checking data for completeness, plausibility and consistency
- You document your results in such a way that methods, decisions and findings are also comprehensible and reproducible for other employees
Required competencies / experience:
- You have been studying chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, materials science, process engineering or a comparable scientific or technical discipline for several semesters
- You have gained initial practical experience in the laboratory or technical experimental environment. University internships are completely sufficient for this position
- You like to work practically and are not afraid to deal with unfamiliar equipment, experimental setups or technical problems
- You approach problems systematically and analytically and don't give up if the cause of a problem is not immediately obvious
- You work precisely, safety-consciously, and conscientiously, especially when preparing samples and handling chemicals
- Knowledge of FTIR, microscopy, REM/EDX, ICP-OES or ion chromatography is an advantage. More important to us is your willingness to familiarize yourself intensively with new methods
- You can communicate confidently in the team in German or English. Technical documentation can also be prepared in English if required
Benefits:
- We offer you interesting, autonomous and varied activities with corresponding development prospects in a traditional company with a start-up mentality in one of the top future industries.
- With us you can arrange your working hours flexibly and also work on a mobile basis.
- Our food service provides you with soul food at a discounted price.
