Company: cellcentric GmbH & Co. KG

Everyone's talking about sustainable energy - we're getting it on track.

We are a company with probably the most experienced employees in our technology field in the world. As a joint venture of Daimler Truck AG and the Volvo Group AB, we are responsible for all activities along the entire value chain for fuel cell systems: from research and development to production and marketing for use in trucks and other applications outside vehicles. The goal is to establish cellcentric as a leading global manufacturer of fuel cells, contributing to climate-neutral and sustainable transportation.

In our Industrial Engineering team, we assess and manage all manufacturing-relevant product and process changes across the entire cell production process chain – from ink production through coating/CCM and MEA to the bipolar plate and stack. You bring the manufacturing perspective into product and equipment development at an early stage, ensure the controlled introduction of changes into series production, and create transparency around product and process variance.

Responsibilities:

  • You assess product and process changes (CR/ECR) from a manufacturing perspective across the entire cell production process chain (ink, coating/CCM, MEA, bipolar plate, stack) in terms of feasibility, equipment, cycle time, quality, process capability, cost, and timing.
  • You prepare the manufacturing statement and decision paper.
  • You plan and manage the implementation of changes in series production, including the effective date, remaining stock, and transition arrangements, together with logistics, purchasing, and quality.
  • You track the follow-up activities (P-FMEA, control plan, work instructions, requalification, PPF/PPAP per VDA 2) and verify the effectiveness of the changes.
  • You analyze product and process variance (e.g. stack sizes, cell counts, material variants) and create transparency on variant drivers and complexity costs.
  • You develop strategies for variant reduction (modular kits, common parts, late variant differentiation) and assess new variants in terms of equipment flexibility, changeover effort, and capacity.
  • You maintain manufacturing-relevant variant and BOM structures (E-BOM/P-BOM, routings) together with development and production planning.
  • You bring the manufacturing perspective into product and material development as well as equipment planning (simultaneous engineering) — including design reviews, D-FMEA, tolerance and manufacturability analyses.
  • You derive production-ready design requirements for specification documents (e.g. coating process windows, stacking tolerances, handling of thin membranes, automation capability).
  • You evaluate design alternatives based on manufacturing cost, process robustness, scrap risk, and scalability, and contribute to prototype build and industrialization projects.
  • You further develop standards and methods for change and variant management.
  • You independently approve or reject change requests from a manufacturing standpoint.
  • You stop the implementation of changes in case of quality or process risks and escalate to management or the Change Control Board (CCB).
  • You define the required verification and requalification measures.
  • You identify potential manufacturing risks and communicate them to those responsible.

Qualification:

  • You hold a university degree (Master's/Diplom) in process engineering, production engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a comparable field.
  • You bring at least 5 years of experience in industrial engineering or industrialization of series production.
  • You have experience in change and variant management.
  • You have process knowledge of cell manufacturing (from ink to stack) or a comparable manufacturing process.
  • You are familiar with methods such as FMEA, DfM/DfA, tolerance analysis, SPC, and Lean, as well as IATF 16949 and VDA 2/6.3.
  • You have very good SAP and Windchill skills.
  • You have strong assertiveness and moderation skills, and you are confident in both German and English.

Benefits:

  • We offer you interesting, autonomous and varied activities with corresponding development prospects in a traditional company with a start-up mentality in one of the top future industries.
  • You will receive a very attractive compensation package.
  • With us, you can arrange your working hours flexibly, work remotely and work up to 20 days a year from other EU countries.
  • We offer you at least 30 days of vacation per year.
  • You will benefit from an attractive compensation and benefits package, including a company pension scheme, private and occupational accident insurance, and capital-forming benefits.
  • We support the compatibility of work and family life through flexible working models, including parental leave and part-time opportunities.
  • Our comprehensive health management supports your fitness and well-being – from bike leasing offer to voluntary health check-ups by our company doctor directly at our locations.
  • Our restaurant provides you with soul food at a discounted price.
  • You will be challenged - but also supported by a wide range of training and development opportunities.
  • On top, we offer you exclusive leasing and purchase conditions for Mercedes-Benz cars.
