Masterthesis "Optimized structures of fuel cell anodes for increased robustness" (m/f/d)

The team „cell development“ is responsible for the development, testing and qualification of the heart of the PEM fuel cell, namely the membrane-electrode-assembly (MEA) for the subsequent integration into the PEM fuel cell stack for the automotive application. The development takes place in-house as well with national and international partners and suppliers.

Responsibilities:

• You will acquire expertise in multilayer catalyst coatings and electrochemical characterization methods;
• You will develop procedures to produce multilayer catalyst coatings on a laboratory scale;
• You will calculate the required formulations for fuel cell inks and produce these inks;
• You plan test cycles for the electrochemical characterization of the manufactured fuel cells;
• You will independently evaluate the test data obtained;
• You document the knowledge gained in scientific reports.

Experience and Qualification: 

• You have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject;
• You have basic knowledge of electrochemistry, chemistry or fluid dynamics;
• You have some experience of working in a chemical laboratory, e.g. through internships;
• Your strengths include the ability to work in a team and an interest in scientific work;

Proof of current enrollment in a degree program with outstanding exams is required. 

The position will only be filled full-time for approximately 6 months.
